Imagining
Our invited writers come with ideas they want to write about and begin development on a first draft or a deep rewrite of a previous draft. As the first month unfolds, they work closely with the Core Team to hone how the work will take shape. Over the season, each playwright develops a full length provocative play for public performance.
ColLab
All playwrights are assigned a Director and cast that will work alongside them for the last three months of play development, helping to bring each play to life. The writer can hear their words as they are intended.
Collaboration amongst the group is key to the writing process and for the transformation of their story.
perform
The culminating event is a live staged reading or the plays. Celebrating the final achievements with family and friends, the writers, actors and directors provide staged reading of these drafts, We hope that the work of our lab playwright will someday become a full production.
